No need to introduce this English ritual dating back to the end of the 19th century.
Brunch is the delicious synonym for sleeping in, devouring treats with greed, laziness, shared pleasures, a desire for sweet and savoury... It comes from the contraction of the words "Breakfast" and "Lunch", to allow late risers on the weekend to have a meal that is complete enough to last until the evening.
